S3E6 - Salvador, 39. Oakland

Salvador (who identifies as genderqueer and uses he, she and they pronouns) was raised in Whittier, California, between LA and Orange County. Growing up, he didn’t know that their twin was also queer, so most of her sexual explorations were conducted in secret: checking out queer erotic fiction and books about gay sex at the library and cruising the local mall’s bathrooms.

The summer between their first year and sophomore year of high school, he struck up a romantic friendship with a football player from her high school, but things quickly fell apart once the school year started again in the fall. An important friendship with another high school outcast helped her get through the final years of high school.

But, once he graduated and went to college, they decided to be out and proud. His first time having sex with the “full menu” was with a more experienced local man who patiently guided Salvador through a sexual initiation that was both sensual and practical.

After the death of her father, Salvador went through a period of sex and drug addiction but decided to seek treatment and, since then, has grown to prioritize connection and intimacy with their husband and other sex partners.
